Benefits

It's stuff that we have unique discounts for, that we recommend or that if you purchase we both get a discount! We don't recommend stuff just for money. If it's 'no good' you won't find it here. These apps or kit items or services are all used by Andy, the owner of Wales Outdoors, on a regular basis. He personally recommends them! Apps outdooractive - The Wales Outdoors recommend hiking and mountain map app. Maps.me - Mobile offline maps and it's free too. Excellent for those with limited map reading skills and doesn't track you like google maps... OS Locate - Excellent digital compass and height information in one very useful we say must have app What Three Words - Let's hope you'll never need this app! SkyMap - It tells you where the stars are Insurance European Hire Car Insurance - Save £££'s off of the car hire company...

Airbnb Have Deemed Us Fit For Purpose

I've got a plan and it's linked to how I see the future of business and product promotions developing. And I know, given it having a year or two to bed in, I know it will be enough on its own and I will be able to wave goodbye to the big platforms once and for all. Fingers crossed ;)

The WORY – November 2020

One of twelve posts highlighting the best of 2020 - this is The Wales Outdoors Review of the Year!  It was a bad start for November with the lockdown still in place but there was some light at the end of the tunnel and that was freedom towards the end of the month. We planned in a series of walks to once again celebrate both Wales and the return of our freedom! Alongside the walks we launched the Wales Outdoors Classroom, a service that is FREE to join and designed to enable all to attend our walks so long as they are taking part in the offered education. The range of walks at the end of November were stunning! The Dragons Back, Foraging at Batmans's Falls, Wales very own Lake District, Andy's Amazing Eight Waterfalls, Classic Pen y Fan Horseshoe and The Worms Head... Waterfalls pics Pen y Fan pics...

The WORY – September 2020

One of twelve posts highlighting the best of 2020 - this is The Wales Outdoors Review of the Year! I was back from France and delivering walks, but not for long. Towards the end of September the local lockdowns started to kick in and parts of England and parts of Wales were not allowed to come out for walks with Wales Outdoors. It was about this time that Wales Indoors became an idea - more about that in a future post... We managed to fit in 17 walks from the South of the Principality through Mid and into the North! Many of these walks were sold out at our new limit, well in line with Welsh Government guidance of 30 people in a guided activity outdoors, of 16 clients and one or two leaders. Here are some galleries, do follow the links for some stunning photography :) Pen y Fan...

The WORY – August 2020

One of twelve posts highlighting the best of 2020 - this is The Wales Outdoors Review of the Year! After a weekend of waterfalls and beach walks I packed up my van and headed off to France for a four and a half week escape from the madness that is Covid 19 Britain. To be fair, France was worse. Mandatory face coverings for busy outside spaces became a thing once I was there however, I avoided the crowds and spent my time in half empty campsites and on the road, travelling from Roscoff to Bordeaux and back up to Cherbourg. I certainly didn't't get the usual French experience but at least I was away and in the sun and sunning my bum ;) The Wales Outdoors team however kept on keeping on and in total delivered fourteen walks throughout August with six of those being SOLD OUT! There was a...

Cardiff Council – Shame On You!

We were out for a 15km walk from Canton, down the Ely Trail, through Leckwith Woods and over to Caerau. It was clear the work I demanded on the Ely Trail has still not been completed, that's 9 months on. The work is simply a barrier between the footpath/cycle path and the dual carriageway. You'd have thought that would have been of some urgency.  On the Ely Trail we were abused by some Next Bikes warriors and then crossing a road by an elderly man in a small red car. WTF is wrong with people? The footpath into Leckwith Woods was not signed and was not evident on the ground. It was also unwalkable without spiked shoes. NO work has been done here to improve access for walkers for generations and indeed if ever. This proved to be the case for the whole of this walk.  Covid Cardiff Gallery Stiles...

The WORY – December 2020

One of twelve posts highlighting the best of 2020 - this is The Wales Outdoors Review of the Year!  It's the last one, the last month of 2020, and it's a sorry tale of lies and malfeasance and disinformation and actual mass suffering under the yolk of Covid 19. If anything became as clear as a highland spring during this month it was that the government and in fact all governments really do not have a clue, do not know which way to turn and in fact are in at least in a great part being led by the hysterical unwashed. No walks! But we continued with the weekly meetup in our Thursday night Zoom Room - Join us this week if you like :) We went away for a few days to a hot tub hideaway - see the gallery HERE! You can see our ongoing personal walks galleries...
