Walk The Wye Valley
We meet at a small village, Whitchurch, where there is on the road parking and a fine cafe. We head off from there, first on road but soon alongside the meandering river. We gain the cafe at Symonds Yat for a cuppa and out come the cameras for the spectacular views over the river and Huntsham Hill.
It”s downhill and back to the riverside until we get to the wibbly wobbly bridge at Biblins, always fun to cross 🙂 A great forest walk now ensues and we locate King Arthur’s Cave and soon after the ramparts of an Iron Age Hill Fort, said to be the place where Vortigen had his last stand before disappearing from history. It’s then some delightful lanes back to the start point.
This is a 9 mile walk with one hill but often over rough and muddy ground.
