Iron Age Glamorgan 1 – Dunraven Bay To Nash Point Lighthouse
Beginning at the Celtic hillfort at Southerndown and the C19th gardens of Dunraven castle we will take in along the route 2 more Iron Age Celtic hillforts before reaching the C19th light house at Nash Point, the last to be manned in Wales.
The route crosses cute little wooded valleys, rolling agricultural fields, and ancient cliffs – the tallest this side of the Gower. We will take the beach one way and cliff top the other. There are a few short but steep inclines but it’s mostly flat ground alongside some very high cliff tops, sometimes lacking fences.
Some of the beach walking will be rocky, difficult terrain. Toilets are available both at Southerndown, and at Nashpoint. Approx. 12km and 250m of ascent.
