Our expeditions are usually a week long but they can be longer. We encourage keen walkers and those who have been backpacking for a weekend with us to join us on trips to Tenerife, Iceland, France and Scotland. We are actively developing new locations.
Wales Outdoors provides a near monthly opportunity to escape into the wild spaces for a week or so and often to somewhere unusual or exotic. Our adventures are tried and tested and you can view galleries and feedback from previous trips . All weeks away are detailed in our calendar of events.
Knoydart is a very beautiful very remote area of NW Scotland. The Roughbounds of Knoydart is perhaps one of the last wilderness’ in Europe and is certainly the toughest walking known to Andy. Most days are about five hours walking and there is a rest day at the mid point of the trip. We can take the boat from Inverie, the most remote cafe and pub and a wonderful residents owned village, to Mallaig, a port which used to be the gateway to the Isles and to Skye. The final day is hard, something near 20 miles over really the roughest toughest muddiest boggiest ground you can imagine – but – it is worth it!
This is a stripped down and budget walking holiday in Tenerife. Wild camping in 20 degrees is glorious as is the island of Tenerife. We walk from the sea to the summit of Spains highest mountain, the mighty El Teide. This trip is a supported expedition. Walking is with day packs and all other kit is shuttled to the evenings campsite. There is one nights accommodation in the refuge near the summit of the volcano. The walk takes us from beach through desert, through cactus fields then pine forest and finally over dramatic volcanic landscapes!
The Llandmannalaugar Trek is certainly the best known of Icelands interior treks and deservedly so – it’s gorgeous. With multi coloured hills and hidden valleys, snowfields and waterfalls, it’s a gem of a trek with a daily feast for the eyes. This is delivered as part of a week long visit to Iceland and includes all transport and guiding and a few extras such as the Golden Circle and Blue Lagoon 🙂 Go be adventurous in the land of adventure!
This is a one week tour of the best of the south of the island of Iceland. We think the images say it all – wow – what a place… It’s no exaggeration to say that as you are driven from one highlight to another you are continually bowled over by the changes in landscape, the variation of light and the sometimes oppressive and sometimes wide sweeping vistas. This trip also includes the Golden Circle and Blue Lagoon plus all of the main locations of note along the south coast to Hofn.
It’s a low cost trip to France! France is amazing, especially during the summer, and Andy has been visiting Brittany for many years and so knows it well. Andy has developed a week long relaxing holiday that sees us walk and beach it as well as tour the remarkable megaliths that litter the south. Carnac has 3000 standing stones and many burial cairns including some with carved art work and all of which can be visited up close and personal. So think of sun, beaches, swimming, walking, fine food and delving into the remote past and wondering just ‘how did they do that!’
