We are an innovative, multiple award winning, as seen on TV adventure travel provider that works with small groups in the great outdoors. Here’s some background to our assertion that your adventure is our business!

In 1995 Andy Lamb opened the first mountain bike hire business in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Since then Andy’s business, Wales Outdoors, has grown and morphed and now Wales Outdoors is the most active and most popular guided walks and adventure travel provider in Wales.

Andy has been a volunteer co-ordinator, guided walks programme organiser and part time central area warden for the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, chair of Brecon Beacons Tourism, a Duke of Edinburghs area co-ordinator, a Princes Trust social inclusion manager, the catalyst for the Brecon Beacons National Park Environment Charter and a key motivator for the inception of the outdoor activity peer group, SWOAPG. Wales Outdoors operate a safe, friendly and client orientated business that is actively pursuing innovative approaches to fun and educational outdoor provision.

Join us for day walks and weekends away in Wales as well as occasional challenge events and overseas walking tours and holidays in places such as Iceland and Tenerife…

Public Transit: We meet clients at the walking venues but encourage car sharing and can sometimes offer a lift. See event pages for meeting points and to request a seat 🙂
Awards: Despite or perhaps because we have some awards we believe that awards are meaningless as they are given by ‘made up’ organisations or by authorities that are firmly driven by nepotism.

WALK LEADERSClick on the face to go to their individual leaders page 🙂

Andy Lamb is the main man and he delivers most of the walks. However, he encourages others to become leaders for the meetup group Adventure Activity South Wales and here is the team… Can you see your face joining them? If you have what it takes then do get in touch 🙂

Andy – you’ve read all about him already but here is a mug shot
Mali is the newest but most important member of the Wales Outdoors team. She is the prettiest too 😉
Graham is the foraging and western area expert
Isobel is Andy’s wonderful assistant and is out on all of his large group walks
Melitsa is the English contingent and mostly delivers walks over the border
David has a thing for crashed planes. Join him on walks to locate some WW2 bombers
Kate is Andy’s partner and is out on most of the weekend walks, acting as an experienced support team member.
Neal is passionate about Wales, so much so that he’s moved to West Wales to live after visiting for weekends and not really wanting to go home 🙂
Naomi Saxon is an experienced walker, with a passion for the outdoors, especially beaches and mountains. She has been a long term member of the Wales Outdoors walking group.
Nick is an acclaimed mountain photographer, contributor to TRAIL magazine and author of ‘Photographing the Snowdonia Mountains’ a hillwalking and photo-location guide book.
Cori-Lee is an archaeologist who’s job is in a castle in Wales! She specialises in Iron Age stuff and brings a wealth of information to her beside the sea walks…
Dean has been active in the outdoors since his teens and was climbing in the Alps from the age of 16. He now lives in North Wales with his wife and two dogs.
Martin has been hiking and biking in the mountains for nearly 30 years. Origionally based close to the Peak district, Martins adventures covered the Peaks, Yorkshire Dales and Lakes. In early 2005 Martin moved to North Wales, which provided a great opportunity to explore the various regions of this area.

Have been out on a couple of guided walks and have booked as many more as I can fit into busy weekends. Thoroughly... enjoyed myself as someone new to walking in a group. My friends and family aren't that interested so it's great to join a friendly group with knowledgeable and experienced guides. For those who may worried about not being able to keep up, like I was, choose one of the events listed as 'doable by most' no need to be concerned. The Amazing 8 Waterfalls was spectacular after heavy rain.read more

I went on the amazing 8 waterfalls walk in June. Lovely group of people and Andy was friendly and knowledgeable.... Although I live fairly locally and had walked the first part a few times, it was really interesting to see places I hadn't been before. A few places were narrow and steep but everyone managed it, even if one or two of us went downhill on our bums (intentionally) in a couple of places. I would thoroughly recommend joining one of these walks if you want to walk with like-minded people. I hope to do one of the Pen y fan walks in the future.read more

I attended the waterfalls guided walk on a rainy day in October with my friends from my local running club. From the... minute we finished the briefing it was clear that Andy and his colleagues knew the area inside out and were enthusiastic about being out in the forests and Welsh country side. Andy was knowledgeable about the area but also about the environment in general and the importance of rewilding. The waterfalls were stunning and the route a manageable challenge. The day exceeded my expectations and will be returning with my daughters in the spring or summer.read more
