TUNNEL ADVENTURE ACTIVITY DAY IN WALES This classic day, unique to Wales Outdoors Limited, takes place near Talybont on Usk, about 10 miles East of Brecon. The day is based around tunnels, canal tunnels, disused railway tunnels, culverts and whatever other, secretive, dark underground places that we could find.... TUNNEL ADVENTURE ACTIVITY DAY DETAILS TUNNEL ADVENTURE ACTIVITY DAY DESCRIPTION TALYBONT ON USK - BRECON BEACONS We meet at Talybont on Usk for this adventure activity day and spend the morning canoeing along the Brecon to Monmouth canal, usually in Canadian canoes, undertaking paddle strke training, playing games, racing and then paddling through the dark and scary canal tunnel..... it's then back to the start point for a well deserved lunch. After we've been well fed (tea and coffee available from the post office) we drive on to Blaen y Glyn, a wonderful adventure activity forest area about ten minutes away. We walk through some dark woods and emerge at the top of the hill. Small road culverts are the first tunnels of the day. We then walk onto the railway tunnel entrance. Here your group self leads in absolute darkness with our instructors always nearby with emergency lighting, just in case of a fright. You are then welcome to retrace your steps - alone!! - but don't worry, you can always accompany the instructor and his/her torch... Our journey back to the vehicles takes us through the smallest tunnel humanly possible - lets hope there hasn't been too much rain as you will shoot through like a rat up a drainpipe!. We can add a small abseil into this session either at the railway tunnel or in the woods alongside a waterfall. WHO CAN TAKE PART? We can accommodate most levels of ability and have worked with all ages although any child under 7 years old should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. CAN I COMBINE THIS WITH ANY OTHER ACTIVITIES? This is a full adventure canoe kayak activity day so no need to combine with another activity. Saying this though, why not combine this with a second day out on the hill or perhaps Gorge Walking CAN I USE A CAMERA / CAMCORDER Yes. There are good opportunites to film the sessions but we are not to be held responsible for any damaged cameras.
